Diwali is the largest gifting week in the Indian corporate calendar and the one most companies leave too late. Personalised goods are made after they are ordered, so the constraint is never the catalogue โ it is the number of working days between your approval and the festival.
Order in September, not October
The last three weeks before Diwali are when every supplier in the country is running at capacity, couriers are congested, and a spelling correction on a proof can cost you the date. Ordering in September buys you the one thing that cannot be bought later: room for something to go wrong and still be fixed.
A practical schedule for a list of a few hundred pieces: finalise the list and artwork six weeks out, approve the proof five weeks out, production across the next two to three weeks, delivery with a clear week in hand. Larger or multi-item orders need longer.
Staff and clients need different things
It is tempting to buy one gift for everyone. It rarely works, because the two lists are doing different jobs. Staff gifting is recognition โ it can be personal, it can carry individual names, and it is judged on thoughtfulness. Client gifting is relationship maintenance โ it is judged on appropriateness, and it runs into compliance ceilings that staff gifting does not.
Corporate gifts for clients covers the client side in detail, including the sectors where value limits apply.
Hamper or single gift
A hamper reads as generous and photographs well, which matters when gifts are handed over at an office gathering. A single well-chosen item reads as considered, costs less to pack and ship, and is far easier to personalise individually.
The deciding question is usually whether the gift will be opened in front of other people. If yes, a hamper earns its cost. If it is going to a desk or a home address, one good personalised item does more with the same money.
What holds up for large lists
- Desk pieces โ mouse pads, coasters, photo frames and name plates. Used daily, and they survive the courier.
- Stationery sets โ diaries and notebooks, especially useful because Diwali sits close enough to the new year that a dated diary is immediately usable.
- Engraved keepsakes โ for smaller senior lists where the gift should feel singular.
- Non-perishables generally โ food gifts sent to offices over a festival week frequently arrive at empty desks.
Personalisation and lead time
One logo across the whole order adds a day. Individual names across the whole order adds materially more, because each name is its own setup and each has to be proofed. Both are possible; the difference belongs in your schedule, not discovered halfway through it.
Send name lists as a spreadsheet rather than in a message thread. Every reprint we have ever done on a festival order traces back to a name transcribed by hand.
